The "Chivito": Uruguay's Delicious National Sandwich

My chivito, up close.

This the best sandwich I've ever eaten. Even better than Saigon Sandwich.  It's called a "chivito" and we discovered it one morning at a food truck parked in the sleepy town of Carmelo, Uruguay.

Turns out the chivito is a national dish of Uruguay. It's a kitchen-sink style sandwich which includes a little bit of everything - beef, egg, cheese, peppers, veggies, all heated together like a panini. Among the best $2 we've ever spent.

Post-chivito celebration!
