Dreamy Burma (Myanmar)

This is Burma, and it will be quite unlike any land you know about.

Temples in Bagan... from a hot air balloon.

We thought perhaps we'd go to Bali. We've traveled to many Asian countries, and wanted to go somewhere relaxing after six sticky days in Singapore. Looking at a map, I noticed Burma, and realized how little I knew about the country. It's run by a brutal and paranoid military regime, is deeply poor and ravaged by hurricanes, and many are undecided whether it's ethical to travel there or not. So, I looked into it, and discovered that Burma has a unique cultural history, with fascinating destinations to travel to.

On our trip, we visited Rangoon (Yangon), Bagan (Pagan), and Inle Lake. Hotel recommendations at the end of the post.
